Script length

I recently finished the second version of the NightRise script. It''s 178 pages. I''m quite impressed, I must say, though, that it includes cheat sheet like directions to explain how the game moves along, plus "stage directions" for FMV''s. So my question to you, is, if you have ever written a script for a game, how long was it? I''m just curious. Thanks. ----------------------------- A world destroyed, a myth rebord. just remember to leave room for the player to make choices, otherwise its a movie not a game

Around 30 pages (28+title+credits+toc+...). However, you can't measure up like this (just like in books' case). Depends on the game genre, depends on the writer's style. On one hand, noone's going to read everything you punch down, unless it's *really* well written. On the other hand, a game script is not (too) technical, so it's not about being too concise. You gotta find a molding line between those two.

Oh don''t worry, I have. I''ve created the game so the player can explore the cities and surrounding areas until he talks to a specific person (it changes per disc) and then the actual missions start. This gives the player time to level up and develop the character to their liking.

The script I wrote for Ground Control (RTS game released 2000) was 118 pages (including cinematics). But as someone mentioned - it really depends on the writing style and game genre.
