Im stuck on a mission for some rebel characters to do in a game plot. Something like a heist of some jewels, gunning/blowing a building up .etc I want something really original and quirky.

They could... destroy the death star!

More seriously: What type of game is this?

The best thing about the internet is the way people with no experience or qualifications can pretend to be completely superior to other people who have no experience or qualifications.
You say you''re dealing with rebels, so I have to think it''ll be some kind of guerrilla situation. Maybe attacking a power plant, or destroying a manufacturing center. Really, "rebel" is a lot like "terrorist", except a rebel seeks to undermine governmental authority, while a terrorist is going for maximum psychological impact and trauma. So rebels will try not to kill civilians, but will want to maximize damage to important resources.

You say you want something quirky, eh? How about this: A big pro-governmental rally is coming up, and the capstone for the ceremony will be the unfurling of a huge banner of the dictator''s face. It''ll unfold behind his dais and the cameras will all be rolling and he''ll say something about how great he is. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to infiltrate the catering staff, slip backstage, and paint a gigantic moustache and big bushy eyebrow and devil horns on the banner. Your secondary objective is to draw a word bubble saying "I Smell... Like Oppression!" coming out of his mouth, and black out one of his teeth. Then get out without being captured.
How about kidnapping some important person right before they make a speech the rebels disagree with. You''d have to follow him about until there aren''t too many people around, beat up his bodyguards, gag him quickly and bundle him into a van without hurting him (much) or getting caught by the police / bad guys.
It would be cool to have a control scheme like Commandos, but in a free-form world (like GTA3), so that you could get all your guys together and do something like kidnap someone. Your driver grabs a van, your other guys get in, you tail the guy to a club or his house, and then set up an ambush/diversion/trap so that you can grab him and get everyone out safely, and then of course you might have to deal with a car chase, or a gunfight, or whatever, but if you lose your pursuers and get back to base, you can interrogate the guy, or ransom him, or execute him on community access television.
